How Health Scores Work
Every subnet gets a score from 0 to 100, calculated from 4 weighted pillars. All metrics use percentile ranking across all active subnets - so a score of 80 means that subnet outperforms 80% of all other subnets on that metric. The final score is a weighted average of the four pillar scores.
Liquidity & Market (30%)
Measures how easy it is to buy or sell the subnet token without significant price impact.
- TAO locked (40 pts) - Amount of TAO in the liquidity pool, percentile ranked
- Market cap (35 pts) - Total market capitalization, percentile ranked
- Volume (25 pts) - 24h trading volume, percentile ranked
Network Strength (30%)
Indicates how well the subnet is supported by validators and miners.
- Validators (35 pts) - Number of active validators, percentile ranked
- Miner utilization (35 pts) - Ratio of active miners to max UID slots (higher = fuller network)
- Miner/validator ratio (30 pts) - Sweet spot is 3-8x miners per validator. Too low means underutilized, too high means validator congestion
Emission & Incentive (20%)
Reflects how well the subnet captures network emissions and its maturity.
- Emission share (35 pts) - Percentage of total network emissions, percentile ranked
- Registration cost (20 pts) - Higher cost signals more demand for slots
- Market cap (15 pts) - Secondary market cap signal
- Subnet age (15 pts) - Older subnets score higher (max at 6+ months) as a reliability signal
- Tempo (15 pts) - Faster block tempo scores higher (60 blocks or less = max score)
Growth & Momentum (20%)
Captures recent price action and market sentiment direction.
- Buy/sell ratio (30 pts) - Order flow sentiment. 0.5 = neutral, above 0.7 = strong buying pressure
- 7-day trend (30 pts) - Weekly price change, damped to avoid extreme swings dominating
- Trend consistency (20 pts) - How smooth/consistent the 7-day sparkline trend is
- Volume activity (20 pts) - Trading volume percentile as an activity signal
Score Grades & Fear/Greed Index
Health Score Grades:
- Excellent (80-100) - Top-tier subnet across most metrics
- Good (60-79) - Solid fundamentals with room for improvement
- Poor (30-59) - Significant weaknesses in one or more areas
- Critical (<30) - Major concerns across multiple pillars
Fear & Greed Index (0-100):
Separate from health score. Measures market sentiment using price momentum (40%), buy/sell pressure (25%), volume activity (20%), and trend consistency (15%).
